TourSolver V2 Beta Testing

Announcing the limited release of SNS TourSolver V2 (beta) for testing.

CDC’s Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is looking for a six to eight state and local SNS planners to assist in testing the beta version of the new release of TourSolver.

The new release uses SNS terminology such as RSS and RDNs in place of ’resources’, and stops in place of ‘customers’. The new version also makes making changes to your scenarios easier, and it is also capable of optimizing two stage distribution plans automatically.

If you are interested in being a beta tester, please contact Rick Pietz at eoj3@cdc.gov to schedule a testing session.

Beta testers will have to enter their data in a new Excel format that seperates the street number from the street name. Samples of the new spreadsheet design can be found at: http://174.129.230.226/help.html.

During your scheduled session, one of our design crew will monitor the session to see if there are any errors in the system, and if interface is user friendly and more intuitive.

We will also ask that testers fill out a short survey form to let us know what you thought of the experience, and suggest any improvements that you would like to see.
SNS TourSolver™: Deliveries over Multiple Days

Pan Flu routing may require deliveries over multiple days. Make sure to use "Possible Visit Days" in the Customers tab (for POD) and "Working Days" in the Resources tab (for RSS). For example, if you have 3 days to complete your deliveries, set each as 1-3.

We’re Standing By – Contact Us for Assistance!
Questions, issues, or problems using SNS TourSolver?
SNS TourSolver™ - Understanding the File Structure

For security reasons, SNS TourSolver™ does NOT save and keep any of your data on the server. POD/RSS data is uploaded from your computer, and routes/reports generated during the optimization must be saved on your computer.

When you go to the window to open or save a file, you are actually looking at the server's drives/folders with your computer’s hard drive being located at the bottom of the list with a $ sign. The $ drive is the one you need to select to point to your computer and access your own folders and files.

We’re Standing By – Contact Us for Assistance!
Questions, issues, or problems using SNS TourSolver?
How do I find my Excel spreadsheets with my data

Many users ask how they can find their Excel spreadsheets which they have populated with thier data. In TourSolver, when you go to link your data you also see the drives on the server. You need to find the one with the $ (dollar sign) that corresponds to your computer disk drive. (This is usually the C$ drive)

It is easier if you put your spreadsheets in a folder on your main drive instead of on your desktop. When you put them on your desktop you then need to find the correct user (if you have more than user on the computer) whereas if you have them in a folder on the drive we have found that it is easier.

When I try to run this application it gives me a restriction error and I cant access the drive when I try to link data. I read that a resolution was to click FULL ACCESS when prompted, however I did not click FULL ACCESS and checked "DO NOT ASK ME AGAIN". Is there anyway to change this? Is there a settings tab somewhere to fix this issue?

SNS TourSolver – Easy-to-Use Yet Powerful Routing Tool

SNS TourSolver is a powerful and sophisticated route optimization tool for disaster planning using advanced algorithms on the back-end. But sophistication doesn’t mean it is complicated to use. On the front-end, planners simply use the SNS TourSolver data wizard to upload Excel spreadsheets you already have, or can easily create, with basic information on PODs and RSSs. Simplicity and sophistication!

We’re Standing By – Contact Us for Assistance!
Questions, issues, or problems using SNS TourSolver?
